Glossary
Echoes of Somewhere is an experimental 2.5D point and click adventure game anthology series developed by a group of game industry veterans on their free time.
The project relies heavily on AI generated content and as such is an experiment in itself. We will be documenting the progress here in this development blog. For good or for worse.
Each episode in the series is about 1-4 hours of classic point-and-click gameplay in a new world with new characters. Even the art style will vary from episode to episode.
The episodes will be released for free one by one when completed.
3D modeling
3D modeling is the process of creating a three-dimensional digital representation of an object or scene using specialized software. The model is created using a combination of techniques such as polygonal modeling, sculpting, and computer-aided design (CAD) tools. 3D modeling can be used in a variety of industries, such as gaming, film and animation, architecture, and product design, among others. The resulting model can be manipulated and viewed from any angle, providing a more immersive and interactive experience for users.
UV mapping
UV mapping is the process of applying a 2D texture or image to a 3D model. It involves creating a 2D representation of the model’s surface and then using this map to apply textures and images to the model.
Projection mapping
Projection mapping in 3D art is a technique used to project images and videos onto a 3D object, creating the illusion that the content is part of the object itself.
Rigging
Rigging in 3D involves creating a digital skeleton or framework for a 3D model that allows it to move and be animated realistically. It’s achieved by placing a series of interconnected bones or joints within the 3D model and using them to animate the model.
AI image generation
AI generative image creation is a technique that uses machine learning algorithms to generate new and original images. The algorithms are trained on large datasets of images and use this information to create new images that resemble the original dataset.
